2) This is where the excitement starts! I’ll get stuck into the design of your pages and cover, keeping you in the loop at all times and making changes as necessary, to ensure you’re completely happy with the look of your journal or planner.



3) We’ll agree the final design and layout. Then, if you’ve asked me to take care of uploading and publishing on Amazon, I’ll get this done and request a proof copy of the book to be sent to you for review.



4) Your journal or planner is out there – you’re able to order author copies, give or sell them to clients – in fact do whatever you like with them! If you’ve ordered mockup images and videos you’ll now want to share them everywhere to spread the word about your amazing book!

I’ve been involved with online marketing since 2011 when I set up my business as a social media manager. It has evolved considerably since then – but the one constant thing has been my curiosity to explore new possibilities. My training as a scientist has given me an enquiring mind!

For many years I’ve enjoyed digital design, despite having no formal training – I’ve simply learned “on the job”, using readily-available tools.

FAQs

How much does it cost?

It depends on your requirements… which we explore during our initial call. Starting at £199 for a 100-150 page basic dated journal with bespoke cover design, to £349 for a journal or planner with bespoke cover and up to 6 unique pages (total pages depending on type of book) – plus choose from a range of extras including mockup images, flipbook videos, additional cover designs, hard cover format.

What will you need from me?

We’ll discuss this during our Zoom call. At the least I’ll need your business logo (assuming you want it included in the book cover or elsewhere), any brand colours or fonts you would like used, your contact details and website URL, plus details of images to be included if you have specific requirements.

How many revisions will there be?

I’ll keep you updated throughout the design process by sending images / PDFs of the interior pages and cover. These will be revised in line with your instructions (within what’s posssible and reasonable) – there is no specific limit on the number of revisions.

What size will my book be?

Again, it’s your decision. Amazon offers 16 standard paperback sizes and 5 hardcover sizes – popular ones being 6″ x 9″, 5.5″ x 8.5″ and 8.5″ x 11″.

How should I price my book?

This is entirely up to you but I’d recommend being guided by similar books in your niche. You’ll also get guidance from KDP when you upload the book files – you can’t charge less than the printing cost so you’ll see a minimum suggested price.

How much does Amazon publication cost?

Very easy to answer – totally free! You set up a Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account via your existing Amazon login, choose the book format you want and off you go! Printing costs are included in the retail price of your book (set this yourself) and vary according to the number of pages, colour or black-white, paperback or hardcover.

Can I buy my own books and sell them myself?

Yes, it’s definitely a good idea to do this. I’ve sold quite a few of mine when I’ve taken them to business networking groups. The best thing is, you pay a lot less than the retail price (a perk of being the author!) You could also offer them for sale via your own website if you’re happy to handle the postage & packing.

Should I buy a design package or your Branded Journals Blueprint program?

A design package is ideal if you know you won’t have time to work through an online course to learn the design and publication process yourself, or if you simply want things done for you as quickly as possible.
The Branded Journals Blueprint program is perfect for anyone who really wants to learn the entire process, has time to spend going through the tutorials and is on a more limited budget.
